How to add Cronos to MetaMask

Cronos – is a tier 1 blockchain without access rights that was created using the Cosmos SDK to ensure interoperability between the Cosmos and Ethereum networks. Its native token is CRO, which is the same native currency for the Crypto.org chain. For those who want to use CRO or access any DApps built on this chain, you need to add the chain to MetaMask for faster access.

In this article, we take a quick look at how you can add a Cronos chain to your MetaMask wallet. Let’s dive in!

Installing and configuring MetaMask

If you haven’t already done so, create your MetaMask wallet. After that, you will be able to add multiple chains to it and use the same wallet in multiple chains and dApps. To add Cronos to your MetaMask wallet, open the wallet in the “Extensions” tab.

To simplify your work, select the “Advanced View” option by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner. You will be taken to a new tab.

Select the colored drive icon in the upper right corner of the screen and go to Settings.

Click on the “Networks” tab on the left side of the screen and a new screen will appear with all the added networks to your MetaMask Wallet. Now you can select “Add Network” to add a Cronos network.

How to add Cronos Mainnet to MetaMask

To add Cronos to MetaMask, you will need data about the network, such as the RPC URL, the chain ID, and others. You can find this information from various sources, but it’s best to pull such network details from the official chain documentation. For Cronos, you can find it here.

Save the network, and a new screen will automatically load showing that the network has been added to your wallet.

Now just add this information to the various placeholder fields.

Save the network, and a new screen will automatically load showing that the network has been added to your wallet.

You will now be able to transfer tokens to your wallet and use it to access dApps in the Cronos chain.

How to add Cronos Testnet to MetaMask

If you have never explored a network before and want to get an idea of how the network and the dApps built on it work, you can add testnet networks to your wallet. This requires exactly the same steps as described above, but the details of the network will be changed.

To add a Cronos test network to your MetaMask wallet, add these network data.

Now you can easily access some of the best DeFi apps created in the Cronos chain.
